Third Grade Happenings

Welcome to third grade!
Religion - "God Calls Us by Name; discussed our names and how we are members of different families; read and discussed the story of Abram and learned how he trusted in God;
Language Arts - baseline testing; wrote paragraph about summer vacation; began reading for AR;
Spelling - took pretest; words have a short vowel sound and a VCCV pattern;
Math - Place Value: read and wrote numbers in standard, word, and expanded form; rounded numbers to the nearest ten or ten cents; rounded numbers to the nearest hundred and nearest dollar; took math quiz;
Social Studies - identified the meaning of geography and the themes of geography; identified and located the 7 continents; made a model of the earth;
Science - identified various ways to classifly animals; compared and contrasted animal homes;
Handwriting - practiced print writing;

Upcoming Events:
September 6th - Labor Day - no school
September 7th - books must be covered
September 7th - All School Mass
September 9th - Spelling test
September 9th - Open House at 7:00 p.m.
