New School Principal Announcement

A letter from Father Pisut

I am pleased to announce that Kristel Kautzky will be the new principal of our school effective July 1, 2019. She will fill the position of our retiring principal, Dr. Nancy Dowdle.
Ms. Kautzky is familiar with St. Augustin, having served our school as the middle school math teacher for five years. In the last year, she has served as a math teacher and assistant principal.
Born and raised in Perry, Iowa, Ms. Kautzky earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Iowa State University. After graduating, she taught at Khepera Charter School in Philadelphia and then returned to Iowa, assuming the middle school math position at St. Augustin.  She also coached the varsity volleyball team at Perry High School for three years.  Ms. Kautzky earned a master’s degree in educational leadership in 2018 from Creighton University.
Candidates were vetted through the Diocesan Schools Office.   This was followed up by the honest and open feedback of the Principal Interview  Committee.  This committee represented the various groups of St. Augustin Parish that will work with the Principal: Pastor, Business Manager, Director of Religious Education, Parish Council, Finance Council, two members of the Board of Education and three members of the School Faculty. After prayer and reflection over the feedback of the committee, I selected the candidate. The decision was then approved by Bishop Pates.

I look forward to working with Kristel and continuing the great tradition of excellence at St. Augustin School. Let us give her a warm welcome.
Fr. Pisut
