Home & School Service Committee Opportunities

Thank you to all who attended the Back to School Clean Up Bash hosted by the Home & School Service Committee. Ms. Kautzky and the teachers were grateful for the support with cleaning, organizing and painting. It was a great way to kick off back to school.

The Home & School Service Committee led by Cynthia Steidl-Bishop and Lindsay Gilbert has the mission that is best summed up by a quote by Desmond Tutu. “ Do a little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good together that overwhelm the world.”

Our goal is to host three service projects throughout the school year that support our school, parish and/or community. Throughout the year, we also hope to connect our school community to opportunities to engage in service in our community.

Service Opportunities Available:

Tuesday, October 15 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build Day

Register Here.  Individuals over the age of 16 planning on building should sign up by Wednesday, October 9th. This is when we'll shutdown the sign-up to allow our construction managers to accurately plan their week and your team's tasks. On Friday, October 11th, those who registered will receive an email with the site location, what to wear, and other important information. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Lindsay at lgilbert1130@yahoo.com with questions.

Sunday, October 27- St. Joseph’s Emergency Family Shelter Dinner Preparation

Please email Cynthia at cynthias@eyerlyball.org if you would like to help with planning or preparing this evening’s meal.

Saturday, November 9- St. Augustin Catholic School Fall Fundraiser

Planning for the fall fundraiser has begun and will require the help of many to ensure it is a success. If you have ideas for items for our live auction, class or family parties, or you are able to help with planning, decorating, setup, or cleanup, please contact a member of the Fall Fundraiser Committee: Jessica Fleming at jessica.timfleming@gmail.com, Megan Schultheis at meganlschultheis@gmail.com, or Andrea Klemm at klemmkorea@hotmail.com.

Saturday, December 14- Wreaths Across America

Des Moines Parks and Recreation is joining the national “Wreaths Across America” campaign. Woodland Cemetery has been chosen as an official location for 2019, amongst our seven municipal cemeteries.

Sign up to be a volunteer! Individuals are needed to lay wreaths on Wreaths Day and raise funds for wreaths sponsorships.

Click Here to sponsor a wreath at Woodland or to volunteer.

If you are part of or have a favorite organization that needs volunteers, please contact Cynthia at cynthias@eyerlyball.org or Lindsay at lgilbert1130@yahoo.com, so we may distribute information. We look forward to a year of many small pieces of good.
