Meet Mr. DeWall
I grew up on a farm just outside of the small community of Rolfe in northwest Iowa. I attended Rolfe school for my entire K-12 educational experience. From there, I went to Storm Lake and graduated from Buena Vista College (now University) with a BS degree in mathematics.
I have been teaching mathematics for 41 years in three different school districts - mostly at the high school level, but also a few years of sixth grade math and eighth grade algebra. I look forward to working with the younger students and teaching them what to expect when they get older.
What I like most about teaching: I really enjoy working with the students and watching and helping them grow in the classroom and in life. Growing up and becoming a young adult is very rewarding. I also look forward to seeing the energy the students have in the classroom as they grow and learn about math.
About my family: My wife Linda and I have one daughter who is a pharmacist. My wife is a daycare provider for teachers in the Madrid school district, which is where I taught for the past 32 years.
Outside of school: When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, fishing (especially in northern Minnesota), and watching and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. I also enjoy watching many other sporting events when the Hawks are not playing.
